Culminating concert of the Historical Harp Conference: Lamento d'Arianna is the only surviving excerpt from Monteverdi's opera Arianna (1608). 2008 is its 400th anniversary! A 14-day training programme in instrumental and vocal performance practice. Classes are offered in strings (violin, viola, viola d’amore, cello and bass), woodwinds (flute, oboe and bassoon), harpsichord, lute, guitar and voice.  The Institute also offers a programme for conductors and directors.

The Interlochen Early Music Institute focuses on early techniques, articulation, ornamentation/improvisation and ensemble arrangement in medieval and renaissance music. The institute culminates with a participant performance on period instruments. This summer's program will be a pot-pourri of the greatest hits of the Renaissance. The 14th International Viola d'amore Congress will take place June 18-22, 2008 in the Landesakademie Ochsenhausen in Ochsenhausen, Germany. International Viola d'amore players and speakers  from many countries will offer concerts and lectures related to the music and history of the Viola d'amore from the late 17th century to the 21st century.
