2012 Grammy-nominated El Mundo brings us the infectious excitement of Spanish song and dance and the charm of sacred villancicos from Spain and the New World around the year 1700.  Dueling sopranos sing Tarara and the Xacarilla.  The Ciaconna and Folia thrill with rhythms of the baroque guitar.

New York Polyphony returns to Miller’s series with a performance of Tallis and Byrd’s uniquely intimate masses for four voices. Written during a time of religious turbulence in England, these settings of the traditional Latin mass text were intended for modest forces and favor a beautifully simple, straightforward style.
