Personal Summary / Bio
Dr. Penniman is a violist da gamba (one of the only performers in the world on the electric “Ruby” gamba), guitarist, bassist, synthesist, composer and educator. Based in Kansas City, MO, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Operation of Early Music Programs from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music in Historical Musicology from Florida State University, where he also taught viola da gamba for three years, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis on historical musicology from Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon. Victor is the owner and operator of Ormesby Productions, LLC, a full-service musician development service, focusing on education, production and marketing. Dr. Penniman has performed with numerous historically informed ensembles, as well as countless modern groups covering a wide variety of genres. His current solo project, G. Nome, combines the electric Ruby Gamba with synthesizers, acoustic (including Medieval) instruments, and other electric instruments in a unique and dynamic one-man show.
