Personal Summary / Bio
Beverly Lomer holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Studies, with a concentration in music and gender. She has taught Women's and Gender Studies at Florida Atlantic University. Her primary research is in early women's music, especially the work of Hildegard of Bingen. She is the author of Hildegard of Bingen: Music, Rhetoric and the Sacred Feminine, a dissertation based book that explores the rhetoric of music and images of the sacred feminine in Hildegard's Marian Songs. She is also a recorder player with a special interest in performing from original notation and a music reviewer for American Recorder.
