Personal Summary / Bio
Praised by MusicWeb International for “vitality and character…style and verve,” Ensemble Chaconne is a period-instrument trio
devoted to vivid, historically-informed performance of music from the 16th
through the 18th centuries.
Since 1985, the group (Peter H. Bloom, flutes; Carol Lewis, viole da
gamba; and Olav Chris Henriksen, lutes and guitars) has concertized widely. The
ensemble tours the U.S., Canada and Europe, with recent appearances at the
National Gallery in London, The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Residency at
Davidson College, The Bach Festival of Winter Park Florida, Connecticut Early
Music Festival, Atlanta’s famed Spivey Hall, the Yale Center for British Art,
and the 30th Annual Medieval and Renaissance Forum, to name a few. Noted guest artists include Pamela Dellal,
Anne Azéma and the Ken Pierce Baroque Dance Company. A member of Early Music America’s North
American Touring Roster, the New England States Touring Roster and the South
Carolina Artists in Education Roster, Ensemble Chaconne is
managed by Americas Musicworks and records on the Americas Musicworks label.
