Personal Summary / Bio
I am a Council Member of NEMA (National Early Music Association, UK). In 2009, I organised NEMA's Conference Singing Music from 1500 to 1900, the proceedings of which are available online both on NEMA's and the University of York's websites; this material includes my paper and video on vocal vibrato. I have specialised at various times on recorders, curtal, crumhorns and treble viol, but concentrate currently mainly on great bass shawm, harpsichord continuo and choral singing, as a member of the Thames Valley and Southern Early Music Fora. I am continuing to investigate vocal performance practice in the 19th century, focussing on the under-researched period after 1830.
