Personal Summary / Bio

Amy Elizabeth Wheeler & Jaroslaw Lipski capture the spirit of English lute songs and draw audiences into close range to enjoy music and poetry of the English renaissance. Concert programs offer repertoire from the 16th and 17th centuries which include songs from Shakespeare’s plays, folk songs, and songs by Robert Jones, Robert Johnson, John Dowland, Nicholas Lanier and other popular composers of the era. In addition to performing concerts they have recorded a critically acclaimed CD, What Thing Is Love,  featuring the premier recording of Robert Jones's “As I lay lately in a dream.”  The duo has performed to capacity audiences in concerts presented by the British Council, the Early Music Festival at the King’s Castle in Warsaw, as well as performing at the 100th anniversary season of Poland's National Philharmonic where they received a standing ovation. As winners of Early Music America’s nationwide competition for early music ensembles in 2008, they were showcased by EMA and the Gotham Early Music Scene at the Association of Performers and Presenters Conference (APAP) in New York City, 2009.
