Personal Summary / Bio

Claudia is especialist in early music with a Master of Arts in Recorder Performance at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, Switzerland (2004). When she was ten years old, she was selected by the National Department of Education as one of two artistic ambassadors of Colombia to represent the Country in the International Summit “Flag for Peace, Sofia 81” in Sofia, Bulgaria.

 

 

En 1992, she obtains her Diploma in Musical Pedagogy from “Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.” After her graduation, she wins several prestigious scholarships provided by governmental and private sponsors like Icetex and the Mazda Foundation, which allows her to travel to Switzerland in 1993 to begin her advanced studies in Early Music in the Coservatory of Music in Geneva.  She studies under the direction of renowned conductor and flutist Gabriel Garrido. In 1999 she obtained her “Professional Proficiency Diploma in Early Music and Recorder.”

 

While continuing her studies in Geneva, she also participated in several seminars and master classes in recorder performance by Jerome Minis, Han Tol, Pierre Hamon, Nicolas Strosser and Pedro Mesmeldorff.  In 2000 she is selected to participate in several large music productions and concert tours with various European ensembles, including The Baroquela Academia Barroca Academy of Ambronay (France), conducted by Gabriel Garrido, with performances in France, Switzerland and Belgium.

 

 

In 2004 she returns to Colombia and she becomes the coordinator of the Early Music Program at Universidad del Bosque in Bogotá.  Later she  presents her own project of  Early Music Program at Universidad Nacional, winning the 2017 Merit Recognition Award and becoming professor of early music studies at this school.  In 2006 she founded the early music ensemble Esfera Armoniosa.

 

Throughout her career, Claudia has participated in different recording productions, such as,Hace parte“Le balet Comique de "Le Balet la Royne Comique de la Royne” de Baltasar de Beaujoyeulx, bajo la dirección de Gabriel Garrido y “Del mar del alma” con la agrupación Música Ficta (Colombia)." by Baltasar de Beaujoyeulx (1997) by the Emsemble Elyma (Switzerland). In 2007, she collaborates on the recording of the CD “Del mar del alma" by the Colombian ensemble Música Ficta. In 2009  Esfera Armoniosa recorded its first CD, “Io vo Cantar” containing Italian music of the early 17th century.

 

 In 2008 she moved to Florida, where she aided with the early music program of Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is currently living in the San Francisco Bay area where she continues playing and teaching.
