Thomas Aláan Lipsmeyer is a countertenor, vocal pedagogue, and direcor of Women's Schola at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. He is assists the Director of Music in conducting the Cathedral Singers, Filipino Singers, and guest conducts the Schola Cantorum Cathedralis.
Thomas maintains a small, private voice studio and performs for parishes around the Archdiocese of Chicago. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, American Choral Directors Association, Early Music America, Acoustical Society of America, Linguistics Society of America, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Fraternity of America, Inc.
Thomas has an M.A. in vocal pedagogy and B.A. in music education, and completed additional musical training at the Baroque Performance Institute, the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, and OperaWorks. Thomas has studied voice with Joan Wall, Max von Egmond, Linda Poetschke, David Brock, and Lewis Hall. He has coached with Ann Baltz, Beverly Hoch, Elvia Puccinelli, Darryl Cooper, and John Kolody. He currently studies with countertenor Mark Crayton.
