Personal Summary / Bio
Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, countertenor, is already beginning to make his mark as an early music professional. Recent reviewers have hailed that he "showed exceptional control” and that “it is unusual enough to come across a countertenor at this age, but to find one with this solid a technique shows great promise for Mr. Nussbaum Cohen’s musical future” (Princeton Town Topics). In recent months, he has given a critically-acclaimed recital and performed in concerts with the Princeton University Orchestra and Musica Alta in Princeton, NJ. He has performed in concerts with La Fiocco, a Pennsylvania-based early music ensemble, and is currently engaged for a number of concerts in the Princeton area in 2013 and 2014. He has attended the Baroque Vocal Programme at Early Music Vancouver and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, and has participated in master classes with David Daniels, Anthony Roth Costanzo, and Zehava Gal. In addition, Mr. Nussbaum Cohen was a National Finalist in the Classical Singer Competition in 2011 and 2013 and a winner of the Princeton Handel Singing Competition in 2012. Mr. Nussbaum Cohen was born in New York City, and he is currently an undergraduate student at Princeton University, where he is majoring in History and pursuing certificates in Vocal Performance and Judaic Studies.
