Personal Summary / Bio
Embarking upon its fourth full concert season, the Austin Baroque Orchestra and Chorus is the youngest addition to Central Texas' early music scene. While you can hear us performing everything from Latin American a cappella motets to Schubert symphonies, we are most at home playing masterworks and lesser-known fare from the 18th century. Founded in 2011 as Ensemble Settecento, we have grown into a group of more than forty local, statewide, and national musicians who come together to produce historically-informed concerts for the early music connoisseur and the new listener alike.
Never been interested in classical music? Maybe you've been listening to the wrong century! We invite you to come and give us a listen—you might just find there's a little less dust on our music than you think. We're breathing new life into some of the most beautiful music ever written, and we're doing it with a youthful energy and colorful uniqueness that you'd expect from an Austin born-and-bred ensemble.
