This year’s Founder’s Day celebration at the Library of Congress is an evening built on the unconventional presenting tradition founded by Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge, who fostered the performance of Renaissance music in the United States. The party begins as brass choirs of the U.S. Navy Band perform music by Giovanni Gabrieli and Carlo Gesualdo, followed by performances from Piffaro, The Renaissance Band and Boston-based vocal ensemble Blue Heron.
