El Mundo, directed by Richard Savino, offers a rich array of 17th- and 18th-century sacred and secular songs, dances, and ceremonial music by Domenico Scarlatti, Hidalgo, Falconieri, Zipoli, Aparicio, and others, providing a close-up of cultural life in Spain and the New World. The singers and instrumentalists—on guitar, theorbo, strings, harpsichord and percussion—made a Grammy-nominated CD of the same title in 2011.
