Performers and/or Faculty:
One of the great oratorios from the Baroque with a full Baroque Orchestra, choir and soloists.
The culminating concert of Mountainside Baroque’s 2012-2013 series, will be Georg Philip Telemann’s "Der Tod Jesu," presented on Sunday, May 19, 2013, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Cumberland. In his day, Telemann was arguably the most prolific composer on the continent, far out shadowing his contemporary, J. S. Bach. This extended passion oratorio of incredible depth, drama and beauty has seen frequent performances abroad, but is only recently gaining exposure in the United States. This will also mark the largest undertaking in Mountainside Baroque’s short history, complete with full baroque orchestra of string and wind instruments and a star-studded cast of professional soloists.
