To close Lyra's 29th season, we turn to the familiar and heartbreaking story of Orpheus and Eurydice, unfolded over two Orfée cantatas. The first cantata, by Louis-Nicolas Clérambault, takes us as far as the Underworld, where Orpheus' charming, heartfelt music has convinced Hades to free Eurydice. The second, by Jean-Philippe Rameau, details the ascent back to the upper world and the misery that results from a rule broken. Experience the emotions of this compelling story, brought to life by an intimate group of instrumentalists and the brilliant voice of soprano Catherine Webster.

Repertoire: Clérambault - Orfée, Couperin - La Sultanne, Les Goûts Réunis; Rameau - Orfée
