As the Renaissance gave way to the Baroque, music from English consorts and Italian dances to Spanish divisions and broadside ballads all relied on grounds as a common currency. In a program that showcases the best of this beloved genre, Seven Times Salt explores the many guises of the ground bass from Greensleeves to La Follia and beyond. This program features vibrand instrumental and vocal music of 16th and 17th century England, Italy, and Sppain, including choice selections from the Division Violin, The English Dancing Master, and original compositions by King's Noyse violinist David Douglass.
