The Madison Early Music Festival and Workshop, in its tenth year, joins in the International Year of Astronomy, a global celebration of the 400th anniversary of the first astronomical observation made through a telescope by Galileo Galilei. MEMF X will explore the music and art that were inspired by scientific discovery and its tremendous impact on culture.

In addition to the seven-concert Festival Concert Series, featuring resident and guest artists and ensembles, workshop classes provide opportunities to learn and practice instrumental and vocal skills, become familiar with historical performance practices and repertoire, learn about the featured music through the lenses of history and culture, and perform with other participants alongside faculty and guest artists. Coaching sessions are available for pre-formed groups and for consorts formed at the workshop.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music hosts the Madison Early Music Festival. All events take place on campus, close to the attractions of downtown Madison.
