David Shuler, organist

In the autumn of 1705, the young Sebastian Bach, on a four week leave from his church in Arnstadt, traveled on foot 280 miles to Lübeck to learn from the famous Dietrich Buxtehude. Much to the consternation of the church elders, Bach returned four months later, and his organ playing had changed dramatically. This concert will include music of both composers, demonstrating Buxtehude’s profound influence on Bach. Pre-concert lecture at 7 PM>
