Paragraph about the ensemble:
Cambridge Concentus, a vibrant addition to Boston’s early music scene, performs the larger vocal and orchestral repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. Its founding members represent a new generation of early-music performers, committed to infusing recent scholarship with an energetic performance style. Our performances at First Church, Congregational in Cambridge, where we have been appointed Ensemble in Residence, have received critical acclaim. Critics with The Musical Intelligencer recently wrote, “this concert will emblazon Cambridge Concentus in my mind,” and “the lightness of playing once again caught me off-guard. Wonderful!” Under the direction of Joshua Rifkin, Cambridge Concentus toured Japan with a rendering of J S Bach’s "St. Matthew Passion" that was lauded as "an epoch-making performance." Our recent vocal offerings also include Biber’s "Missa Christi resurgentis," Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass," and multiple Bach cantatas. We feature a Brandenburg concerto and several other instrumental works every season.
