|WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 2:30PM, THE SCHULICH SCHOOL OF MUSIC OF MCGILL UNIVERSITY'S MADRIGAL ENSEMBLE, THE VICTORIA IV|
|The Schulich School of Music of McGill University|
McGill’s Madrigal Ensemble, The Victoria IV, was formed in the fall of 2011 by Early Music Ensemble coordinators Valerie Kinslow and Betsy MacMillan, who has also been their coach. The ensemble has presented a number of concerts together in and around McGill and Montreal. Over its two-year history, the group has compiled an extensive repertoire list, a number of recordings, and is known for its engaging performances and unique vocal blend. McGill’s Early Music Ensembles have been an integral part of the Early Music programme at McGill since its inception in the late 1960’s. They perform repertoire ranging from Josquin chansons, to Haydn string quartets on period instruments. Some of these ensembles go on to work together professionally, and many of their members have gone on to perform with the Arion Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Caprice, le Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Les Boréades, Les Voix Baroques and other early music groups in Montreal, across Canada, and internationally.
"McGill is thrilled that the madrigal group, the Victoria IV, has the chance to perform at the Young Performer's Festival in Berkeley, and is very thankful to Early Music America for this occasion! Performing in such an important and exciting event is an invaluable experience; and it is equally inspiring to meet other young early music groups from across North America. Also, the opportunity to hear the Main Stage concerts at the Berkeley Festival is wonderful. Merci à tous!"
